1969 Dodge Charger General Lee

This is a1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee”. A lot of effort has been put in to make this a great replica just as used in the TV series Dukes of Hazzard!
I purchased the car around October of 2013. The gentleman I bought it from did most of the work and I believe he did a super nice job! From the wheels to the push bar to the decals and paint, this car screams for attention, and it gets it EVERYWHERE! If you don’t want to be approached at a gas station, have people honk and wave, or have people taking pictures of your car, then this is defiantly not the car for you!!
Below are some key points that got my attention when I was purchasing the car:
-This Charger General Lee is running a 318 V8 that has been built for more reliability, fuel economy and performance with closed chamber swirl port heads, a Lunati Voodoo cam, a 340 Cuda intake manifold and has been converted to electronic ignition.
-Approx 89,000 Miles (No idea how many actual miles are on the car. It had around 87,000 miles when I purchased it.
-The Automatic Transmission Shifts great with no issues
-The Rear end is a 8 ¼ as this was always a 318 car.
-The interior is special order “Dukes Tan” from Legendary Auto Interiors.
-The body is rock solid and laser straight with No Rust!
-The paint is show quality with Spies Hecker clear coat. The paint on the car is a strong 9-10
-The car sits on a correct set of vintage 14 inch American Racing Vector wheels.
-The push bar was built in the very same jig that Warner Bros used to build their cars.
-The car has the iconic “Dukes of Hazzard” horn that works right off the steering wheel.
-Headlights open and close nicely, as they should.
-The exhaust system is new with a loud throaty sound.
-It has a new fuel system that includes the fuel tank, sending unit, Edelbrock carburetor, pump, hoses, filter etc.
-New brake lines and break reservoir. The car still has the drum brakes all around and stops just fine.
-The car has new AMD bumpers and Quarters.
-Aftermarket CD stereo system.
I'm trying to describe the car as honestly and accurately as possible. I expect the same when I'm looking at items etc. With that said, there are a few minor issues with the car that I am aware of. The brake drums need to be turned on the front. There is a little chatter / shutter while breaking. Nothing to serious just needs to have the drums reworked. This only happens sometimes while braking. It doesn’t hurt the stopping capabilities of the vehicle. Secondly, the gauge cluster on the dash was not working when I purchased the car. I installed an aftermarket gauge cluster above the gear shifter. They are the Oil Pressure, Water Temp, and Amp Meter. The clock that is located next to the speedometer also does not work, although time to time I do see the second hand moving, so I don't know. The speedometer does work, but seems to be off around 10mph while doing 50mph. So you are actually doing 60mph when it reads 50mph. The car speakers in the car for the radio do work, but show their age. If you plan on listening to clear music you will need to replace them. The ones currently installed you can hear music but just doesn’t sound that great. I never really used it anyway and just listened to the car! The last known issue is the engine is beginning to smoke. It seems to be most noticeable after idling for a period of time. I have not noticed it while driving, or at stop lights etc. I haven’t noticed any power loss and the engine still seems as strong as it was when it was delivered to me.
If you have been looking for a General Lee, or just a great Charger in general here is your chance! Even with the few issues listed above, the car is in outstanding condition! The car will defiantly put a smile on your face as well as the drivers around you.
